Toby staunton

Toby is an entirely self taught artist based in Haslemere, Surrey. Working as an artist since lockdown, he is inspired by flowers and animals (real and mythical) from Japanese art and Western tattoo traditions. Primarily working with acrylics and inks Toby creates paintings that are designed to be bright and colourful; his choice of handmade and high quality papers creates warmth and texture.

Paintings are often presented in vintage or bespoke frames to give them each a character of their own. Where vintage frames are used these often form part of the inspiration for his work and paintings are created to fit the space, a challenge he enjoys. Other techniques include combining painting with paper marbling to create unique, one of designs.
